Will GTA 6 Run at 60fps? PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Explained

Tip:Updated 3 November 2026. We update guides as soon as Rockstar confirms new details.

Short answer

Not at launch, as far as we know. Rockstar has said GTA 6 targets 30fps on consoles, and a 60fps or performance mode hasn't been decided.

What Rockstar said

In August 2026, Rockstar said the game runs at 30 frames per second on consoles at launch and that a performance mode is still undecided. It hasn't shared details for PS5 Pro.

Is 30fps bad?

For a slower open-world game, 30fps can feel fine, especially with good motion blur and stable frame pacing. Fast driving and shooting feel smoother at higher frame rates, which is why many players want a performance option.

PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S

Rockstar's site says the game 'plays best on PS5', which usually points to marketing deals rather than big technical gaps. Xbox Series S is the least powerful console, so expect lower resolution there.

A future PC version would likely allow higher frame rates, but there's no PC release date yet.
