Short answer
Possibly, on Xbox only. GTA 6 is reported to unlock at midnight local time, and New Zealand gets there first. Some Xbox players change their console region to New Zealand to start up to about 19 hours earlier. It reportedly doesn't work on PlayStation.
Why New Zealand is first
Store data reportedly shows GTA 6 unlocking at 12:00 AM local time on 19 November in each region. New Zealand is the first major store region to reach that time, around 11:00 UTC on 18 November.
The US is reported to unlock all at once at midnight Eastern, which means 9 PM on 18 November on the West Coast. That's roughly 19 hours after New Zealand.
How the Xbox trick works
On Xbox, a digital game you've bought can follow the console's region setting. Players switch the console region to New Zealand, restart, and launch the game once it unlocks there.
This only applies to digital copies. Rockstar hasn't confirmed it, and Microsoft could change how it works.
Why it doesn't work on PlayStation
PlayStation purchases are tied to your PSN account's country, not the console setting. Changing region on PS5 doesn't change when your copy unlocks.
Risks to know first
Changing region can affect your store, payment methods and some apps. Switch back afterwards, and don't use a different-country account or payment details you don't own.
There's also a spoiler risk: players in early regions will be posting clips hours before you can play.
